The short answer is yes, and you can do it free of charge. It’s simple to change your NDIS plan manager, and there is support out there to help you through this transition.
Staying on top of your NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) plan can often seem overwhelming if you don’t have access to supports that suit you, or your needs evolve.
If you find yourself in a situation where your current Plan Management service is no longer meeting your expectations, it might be time for a change. At MyIntegra, we are here to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Read on to learn how to get the process started, and what support is available along the way.
It’s your right to choose
Every NDIS participant has the right to choose and change their plan manager at any point during their plan. This flexibility is designed to give you control over how your plan is managed and ensure you are always getting the most out of your plan.
Whether you’re looking for a more responsive service, better financial management, or simply a change, you are always free to switch to a plan manager that better suits your needs.
How to switch plan managers
Changing your NDIS plan manager is an easy and simple process designed to minimise any disruption to your services. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making the switch:
1. Review your current service agreement
Before getting started, it’s important to closely review your service agreement with your current plan manager. This document outlines the terms of your partnership, including any specific conditions about changing plan managers. Look for details regarding notice periods or other requirements you must fulfil to initiate a switch. This step ensures you’re fully informed about any obligations and can plan your switch without encountering unexpected hurdles.
2. Choose a new plan manager
Selecting a new plan manager is the most critical step in this transition. It’s an opportunity to align your NDIS journey with a service that understands and caters to your unique needs. When researching potential plan managers, consider choosing a service that pays invoices quickly, has an easy way for you to view and manage your funds, has high customer satisfaction, and is a partner that you can trust to help you navigate the NDIS.
When it comes to researching a new plan manager, don’t hesitate to call a few, ask questions and get a good understanding of how they operate before you make any decisions.
3. Contact your new plan manager
The next step is to contact your newly chosen plan manager and initiate your setup and transition. At MyIntegra, reaching out is as simple as making a phone call, or signing up online. From there, our team can step in and guide you through every step of your transition.
Your new plan manager will work with you to establish a service agreement that reflects your individual needs and goals within the NDIS framework. Your service agreement will include the services to be provided, how they will be provided, and how long your new provider will be your plan manager.
4. Notify your current plan manager
Once you’ve decided to change plan managers, the final step is to inform your current plan manager of your decision. While it might seem daunting, it doesn’t need to be—you can simply give them a call or send them an email informing them of your choice.
If you’re not sure what to say in your email, download our free template here[1] . Simply address it to your current plan manager, sign off with your name, and your email will be ready to send.
If you feel comfortable to provide feedback on why you want to change services, you’re more than welcome to do so, however, remember that you’re not obliged to provide detailed reasons.
5. Endorse your new plan manager
If your NDIS plan is on the new PACE system you will need to officially endorse your new chosen plan manager by informing the NDIA of your selection.
- Call the NDIA National Call Centre at 1800 800 110 to notify them of your endorsement.
- Reach out to your Local Area Coordinator or planner to inform them of your choice.
Once your current plan manager has processed the release of your funds and in the case of PACE plans, once the endorsement for your new plan manager is active- your new plan manager can start managing your NDIS funds and paying invoices.
What to expect during the transition
Transitioning to a new plan manager should be seamless and minimise interruption to your NDIS funding or services. A good plan manager will ensure a smooth handover by:
- Guiding you through the steps you need to take to switch plan managers
- Working with you, your existing plan manager and the NDIS to support the transition
- Taking over the management of your NDIS funds as quickly as possible
- Providing continuous support and updates throughout the process, keeping you informed every step of the way.
Everyone deserves a seamless, personalised and efficient NDIS plan management experience, so that you can spend less time thinking about your NDIS funding, and more time getting the most out of your plan. Now that you know how to switch plan managers and what to expect you can get started finding one that works the best for your needs.
